"Don't be a goose, Gilbert," was Anne's conjugal reply. "As for Leslie, she is absurd and I'm going up to tell her so."

The majority of gamers may no longer be able to get hold of an Apple Watch till June, but that shouldn't stop us getting intrigued by the sort of games we're going to play when we eventually do.

Whilst Apple has outed a few titles on the official site, including variations and spin-offs of puzzlers such as Rules and Best Fiends, and we've assembled our own ever expanding list, today saw the announcement of one of the most intriguing (and arguably most ambitious) Apple Watch games yet.

Described by Everywear Games as "the first Fantasy Adventure on a smartwatch", Runeblade is setting out to squash all the key elements you'd expect from an RPG - a back story featuring high priestesses and ancient gods, mystical lands to explore, characters to upgrade plus swords and spells to use against an army of monsters - into a compact form. And this doesn't just apply to the screen display, the gameplay itself is designed to function in tiny bursts of 'twitter-sized entertainment' with battles lasting less than 15 seconds and updates appearing as Glances.

Although the interactions are small and simple, Everywear are keen to stress the game "builds over time" and becomes progressively more in-depth and complex over “days, weeks and months of gameplay.”

Everywear's CEO Aki Järvilehto was also keen to emphasise this is an original entirely designed for the platform, “We’re excited to help pioneer game development on Apple Watch with a fully original title designed specifically for smartwatch gaming. with Runeblade, we wanted to create a fresh, new kind of gaming experience on smartwatches.”

Whether this will result in something that's genuinely engaging and fun to play remains to be seen of course, but with backing from Lifeline Ventures (the first investors in Supercell), a team including ex Rovio and Remedy staff and apparent support from Apple (who are believed to have been working with Everywear on the project), expectations are unsurprisingly high.

Runeblade will be free to download exclusively on Apple Watch at launch with updates due to come thick and fast soon after.

"So that is one thing off the poor girl's mind," Miss Cornelia told Anne, "and off mine too. Now, if Dick gets well enough to work again he'll be able to earn enough to pay the interest on it; and if he doesn't I know Captain Jim'll manage someway that Leslie won't have to. He said as much to me. `I'm getting old, Cornelia,' he said, `and I've no chick or child of my own. Leslie won't take a gift from a living man, but mebbe she will from a dead one.' So it will be all right as far as THAT goes. I wish everything else might be settled as satisfactorily. As for that wretch of a Dick, he's been awful these last few days. The devil was in him, believe ME! Leslie and I couldn't get on with our work for the tricks he'd play. He chased all her ducks one day around the yard till most of them died. And not one thing would he do for us. Sometimes, you know, he'll make himself quite handy, bringing in pails of water and wood. But this week if we sent him to the well he'd try to climb down into it. I thought once, `If you'd only shoot down there head-first everything would be nicely settled.'"Squid Game: 456 Survival(No Ads)

It’s powered by the latest mobile tech, including the all-new Snapdragon 855 Plus chipset, and boasts a stunning, world’s first 6.59" 120Hz/1ms AMOLED display. The ROG II’s refresh rate is double that of your average smartphone, giving players of fast-paced multiplayer games a nice advantage.

For those looking for full immersion, you’ll be pleased to hear that the device makes use of dual surrounding vibration, upgraded AirTrigger II ultrasonic sensors, and high-quality front-facing stereo speakers to really throw you into the action.

The 6000mAh battery is an absolute behemoth, and the device’s 30W ROG HyperCharge power adapter allows for safe, ultrafast direct charging. And to ensure reliable performance, the ROG II is kept cool by a newly designed 3D vapour chamber.

Visually, it looks quite similar to the original ROG Phone, though the display is obviously a little larger. Other noticeable improvements include the three USB-C ports and 48MP camera – a sizable step above the original device’s 12MP camera.

Some of the new accessories on offer include the multi-configuration ROG Kunai Gamepad for a more console-like experience and the TwinView Dock II for easy dual-screen gaming.

ROG Phone II, much like its predecessor, sounds like both a top-of-the-line gaming phone and a fast, dependable smartphone. Couple that with a treasure trove of wonderful accessories and you’ve got yourself one of the most intriguing handsets on the market.

On pretty much every level, the ROG Phone II appears to have raised the bar for all Android gaming devices. The price and release date are yet to be announced, though the original ROG Phone cost £799 at launch and this is clearly a big step above that, likely meaning a higher price point.
Check out our news section to discover the latest, and greatest, games.
A THIEF hired a room in a tavern and stayed a while in the hope of stealing something which should enable him to pay his reckoning. When he had waited some days in vain, he saw the Innkeeper dressed in a new and handsome coat and sitting before his door. The Thief sat down beside him and talked with him. As the conversation began to flag, the Thief yawned terribly and at the same time howled like a wolf. The Innkeeper said, "Why do you howl so fearfully?' "I will tell you," said the Thief, "but first let me ask you to hold my clothes, or I shall tear them to pieces. I know not, sir, when I got this habit of yawning, nor whether these attacks of howling were inflicted on me as a judgment for my crimes, or for any other cause; but this I do know, that when I yawn for the third time, I actually turn into a wolf and attack men." With this speech he commenced a second fit of yawning and again howled like a wolf, as he had at first. The Innkeeper. hearing his tale and believing what he said, became greatly alarmed and, rising from his seat, attempted to run away. The Thief laid hold of his coat and entreated him to stop, saying, "Pray wait, sir, and hold my clothes, or I shall tear them to pieces in my fury, when I turn into a wolf." At the same moment he yawned the third time and set up a terrible howl. The Innkeeper, frightened lest he should be attacked, left his new coat in the Thief's hand and ran as fast as he could into the inn for safety. The Thief made off with the coat and did not return again to the inn.
Sport-themed puzzler Golf Peaks won plenty of fans when it landed on iOS greens last year, and this hybrid indie gem is about to get even better thanks to its latest content update.

Update 2.0 adds two new worlds to the card-based title, taking the number of levels to over 100, as well as new block types conveyor belts and ice to add a slippery, slidey twist to your play sessions.

That’s not all!
